Staff treated to a visit from the Premiership Trophy
EXCITED business park staff have hosted a visit from the Premier League Trophy, in association with Barclay’s Workplace Banking, which was onsite to mark the closing of the annual Quorum Games – a three-week long programme of sporting events that saw companies battle it out to win gold.
To mark the occasion, Newcastle’s very own Monty and Maggie Magpie and Sunderland Mascots Sampson and Delilah were on hand to guard the goals in an intense penalty shootout, letting competitive tenants try their luck at scoring a screamer past their opposing team’s mascot for a small charitable donation.
All proceeds were split evenly between both of the clubs’ respective youth charities, Newcastle United Foundation and Sunderland’s Foundation of Light.
Courtesy of its Workplace Banking, a hot desk banking advice service provided to workers on the park, Barclays facilitated the exclusive Premier League Trophy’s visit on site, with staff invited to have a photo taken alongside the Trophy.
The Quorum Games saw cricket competitions, sack races, boules and bubble football taster sessions among the many activities take place over the three week period.
Determined teams fought hard to secure their position on top of the podium, with Home Group securing gold for their efforts at the Quorum closing ceremony, followed by Macaw and Convergys, who awarded silver and bronze respectively.
Quorum events manager Laura Barber said: “Once again, the Quorum Games were a huge success among all our tenants. Having the League Trophy onsite alongside visits from two of our local football clubs only added to the excitement of the Games, bringing out everyone’s competitive edge on the final day of activities.
“This annual event offers the perfect opportunity for all our businesses to join together in light-hearted sportsmanship, combining their different abilities and showcasing the staff camaraderie that exists here on the park.”
