Zero ventured, zero gained when it comes to sustainable wellbeing

We’re thrilled that Quorum Park has been chosen as a partner in the launch of a new business forum for sustainable wellbeing, which is taking place early next month.

On March 7th, The Hub at Q11 will host the inaugural meeting of the Sustainable Wellbeing Business Forum from our friends at Venture Zero – a growing firm helping organisations to create socially and environmentally connected workplaces that positively impact their triple bottom line – people, profits and planet!

Launched during the pandemic following a chance conversation between two friends about the impact of lockdowns on their friends, families and communities, Venture Zero is the culmination of the passions of its two founding experts – Claire Thew, an environmental campaigner with 20 years’ experience delivering on public-facing efforts to encourage behavioural change, and Clare Blunt, a former social worker who spent 25 years working in adult mental health and drug and alcohol services.

Having noted the initially positive environmental changes that took place in the early stages of lockdown, as well as the ongoing rise in eco-anxiety as a result of climate change and the mental health crisis, the pair made the link between environmental sustainability and mental health, and Venture Zero followed in order to make a positive difference to the wellbeing of individuals, while protecting the environment for future generations.

And the event, from 9am until 11.30am on March 7th, will give delegates the chance to discuss business drivers within the context of current societal challenges, considering how organisations can ensure their purpose is aligned with the need for sustainable development, supporting their people and the planet, as well as their profits.

This isn’t the first collaboration between Venture Zero and Quorum Park, as last year all tenant organisations were offered the chance to access part-funded Carbon Literacy Training delivered by Claire, who leads on environmental sustainability at Venture Zero.

It’s also one of many events and initiatives Quorum Park will be part of over the coming weeks around our ESG strategy, which is built upon our sustainable development goals and aims to help all tenant organisations to achieve net zero.

For example, on Tuesday (February 27th), educational charity NCFE, which is based on the park, hosted the February meeting of our Sustainability Working Group, sharing best practice to help all of us make incremental, yet impactful improvements.

On March 13th, we’ll be launching a bumper year of cycling activities to encourage sustainable travel to boost wellbeing, starting with a bikers’ breakfast and free bike health checks from our partners at Bike4Health.

And on March 19th, Insider Media, a publisher of business news, will be on site to deliver a business breakfast on Net Zero and ESG.

Even if you can’t attend any of these fantastic events, you can get your hands dirty and make a tangible individual difference, by emailing us at hub@quorumpark.com to sign up to foster a seedling before planting it in Quorum Park’s allotment and community garden.

Events Manager Claire Lusk said: “Having worked with Claire and Clare before, we share their view that a sense of connection to the environment is crucial to our sense of wellbeing – both individually and collectively, and that connection can be fostered through community events and collaborating with others.

“It’s all about becoming more consciously connected, so we’re privileged to be part of helping that happen for businesses based on and off the park through this forum launch event. We hope to see many of you there and look forward to seeing what great initiatives it may lead to from attendees!”

Tickets to the Venture Zero forum for members of the Quorum Park community are just £14, while visitors can enjoy the event for £19 per person. Find out more at tickettailor.com/events/venturezero/1126810.

Don’t forget, you can keep up with Quorum Park news and events on our Facebook or LinkedIn pages, on X at @Quorum_Park or on Instagram, and you can call The Hub on 0191 691 0889.
