Destination Quorum for 420-mile MND cycle challenge!

On Friday the Quorum Park community was thrilled to welcome an amazing group of cyclists as they completed a gruelling 420-mile ride from Portsmouth.

Cycling around 84 miles per day, the group spent 5 days travelling the length of the country to help raise valuable funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

MND is a life-shortening disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It currently affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time and sadly there is no cure for the rapidly progressing disease

Five cyclists from AND-E and Toyota Insurance Services joined riders from Toyota GB, Toyota Manufacturing UK, Toyota Financial Services UK, and KINTO UK. Over the course of their journey, they visited Toyota sites across the UK and the MND Association’s headquarters in Northampton.

AND-E has based a significant part of its UK operations at Quorum Park for the past 8 years.  AND-E colleagues along with friends and family of the riders welcomed the group as the arrived at Quorum Park late on Friday afternoon. They were greeted by a balloon arch, confetti cannons, music stage, a buffet, goodie bags but most importantly a place to rest and take the load off!

One of the cyclists, Christie Spence-Evans who works for AND-E at Quorum Park, said: “What an incredible 5 days that was! It was a phenomenal physical and mental challenge to keep performing and focused for such a long time. But the camaraderie within our group was amazing and what a fantastic reception we received when we crossed the line at Quorum!

“MND is a devastating disease, for those living with it as well as their family, friends and carers. Indeed, the very sad news of the death of Rob Burrow CBE, brings into sharp focus how devasting the disease is for so many families.  Every penny therefore counts in trying to help find a cure and care for those with this disease and we hope our efforts will make a real impact to the important work being done by the MND Association”

The ride formed part of an ambitious 2024 fundraising campaign to raise £300,000 by Toyota (GB), Toyota Financial Services, Toyota Insurance Services and KINTO UK through a range of charity challenges. The funds will allow the MND Association to continue its research, improve care, and provide support for people with the charity, their families and carers.
