New lease of life for renewables firm following office move

Quorum Park is to be the new regional HQ for Windel Energy, which wanted a more vibrant and conveniently-located base to accommodate its growing team.

Founded in 2018 with a focus on low carbon technologies, Windel has been working from offices in Northumberland since its formation, but with recruitment ongoing for a senior planner to support the twelve-strong team in its management of ongoing projects and plans to bring on board an additional developer and grid engineer, this relocation is set to further energise its operations.

Managing director Jamie Knott explained: “We are thrilled to announce the relocation of Windel Energy to our new, larger office space, marking an exciting chapter of growth and opportunity. This move not only reflects the continued success of our business but also our commitment to expanding our team and creating a dynamic, high-quality work environment for our employees.

“The new space has been thoughtfully customised to meet both our current needs and future goals, offering enhanced workplace amenities and facilities designed to foster collaboration, creativity and well-being. By relocating, we are well positioned to support our growing workforce and this larger space enables us to attract top talent as we continue to expand.

“In the next 12 months we are focusing on the delivery of our live projects such as our flagship Mallard Pass Solar Farm, which earlier this year was given consent by Ed Milliband, the secretary of state for Energy Security and Net Zero, as well as bringing over 600 megawatts of photovoltaic solar projects and over 2,500 megawatts of battery energy storage schemes through to planning consent.

“With more than four gigawatts of clean, renewable power and battery energy storage in various stages of development, many of our projects are shortly to reach ready to build status, so it’s a great time to join us to contribute to the global transition towards clean, renewable energy.”

Acting on behalf of landlord Shelborn Asset Management, Greg Davison, a director at Savills, which acts as joint letting agent for Quorum Park with Avison Young, added: “Sustainability is a huge part of the ethos at Quorum Park, so the addition of Windel Energy to its community is a fantastic fit.

“The company joins an array of other forward-looking firms that appreciate the buzz created on a daily basis on site with a host of events, activities, and other perks of the park.”

Windel Energy will join names such as AA, Verisure, Rightmove, Shared Services Connected Ltd (SSCL), Rambol and NRG, all of whom have made the move to Quorum since it was acquired by Shelborn Asset Management in 2019.

With approximately 83,000 sq.ft of space now available at Quorum Park, office requirements ranging from 700 to 26,000 sq.ft can currently be accommodated by Shelborn.
